"Our work is grounded in science, with a passion for personal performance and development." Reinout Van Schuylenbergh (owner 3Lab).
My journey began during my teenage years when I discovered the thrill and challenge of endurance sports. I participated in running, swimming, and multisport events. However, it quickly became clear that trial and error was not an effective way to achieve personal best performances. I realized I could greatly benefit from exploring sports science to better understand how to enhance exercise performance.
I studied physical education at the University of Louvain (KUL), where I earned a doctorate in exercise physiology and biomechanics. Along the way, I discovered that coaching athletes is just as enjoyable as participating in the sport myself.
Bridging the gap between sports science and practical application is what drives both my coaching and research.
From the moment I started with competition mountainbike at the age of 15, my life’s trajectory was set. 25 years later my passion for endurance sports remains the same, fuelled by striking results like multiple National Championship titles, participation at the London 2012 Olympic Games and top 10 at the World Championships. Besides an active athlete I also have a broad scientific background. I have a Master’s degree in Physical Education, am a certified Trainer A cyclingcoach and conduct doctoral research at Ghent University. With years of hands-on coaching experience, I've honed the ability to translate my athletic insights and academic knowledge into practical, results-driven training strategies to empower endurance athletes to reach their full potential.
